Petal Grove is a calm gardening game with no timer and no way to lose. You plant seeds, watch them bloom, collect the petals they drift your way, and slowly turn a few patches of soil into a garden full of flowers and visiting wildlife. There's no rush, but a little planning makes your garden grow much faster. Here's how.
The basic loop
Plant a seed and it grows from a sprout to a bud to a full bloom. Once it blooms, it keeps giving you petals for as long as you keep it. Petals are your currency: they buy new seeds, clear more soil (up to 24 patches) and pay for decorations.
Watering
Plants need water to keep growing. A thirsty plant shows a 💧 and simply waits, still giving half its petals, so nothing ever withers. Gentle rain waters the whole garden now and then, and a sprinkler keeps its neighbours watered for you, which is one of the most useful early purchases.
What to plant first
There are fourteen flowers, starting with daisies and working up through tulips, poppies, lavender, sunflowers, bluebells, roses, lilies, peonies and cherry trees, to the moonflower, the snowdrop, the lotus and the rare Golden Lotus. Bigger flowers take longer to grow but give far more petals.
A good beginning:
- Fill your first patches with cheap, quick flowers so petals start flowing.
- Clear new patches early. More flowers means more petals for everything else, so expanding the garden pays for itself.
- Replace early flowers with bigger ones once you can afford them.
Attracting visitors
Seventeen visitors come to gardens they like: butterflies, honeybees, a ladybird, robins and bluebirds, a hummingbird, a frog and a dragonfly at the pond, a sleepy cat on the bench, a hedgehog at dusk, fireflies, a luna moth and a little owl at night, and a golden koi.
Visitors aren't just pretty: every visitor in your garden adds 6% more petals. So attracting them is also the best way to grow faster.
How to bring them in:
- Read the Journal. It hints at what each visitor likes.
- Mix flower types. Many visitors want two or three of one particular kind, so a garden with a bit of everything attracts more of them than a garden full of one flower.
- Add decorations. A pond, birdbath, bench and lantern each bring their own visitors, like the frog and dragonfly at the pond or the cat on the bench.
- Stay up late. Some visitors only come at night, so leave the garden open after dark.
Days, seasons and time away
- A day lasts four minutes, and the seasons turn every five: spring blossom, summer sun, autumn leaves and winter snow.
- Your garden keeps growing while you're away (up to 8 hours, at a gentler pace) and welcomes you back with the petals it gathered.
- Soft, calm background music plays and never repeats exactly. Toggle it with the 🎵 button.
A handy shortcut
Tap the selected seed or decoration in the bottom tray again to open its menu. It's a quick way to check what you have selected and swap it.
